Collector's Note In 2015, Hermes abandoned the shape system. Stamps are now "Blind Stamps" (plain letters) and are often hidden on the interior left side panel rather than the strap. The sequences are no longer strictly alphabetical.

The 2014 Transition Towards the end of 2014, Hermes began transitioning to the modern blind-stamp format. While the standard for 2014 was an "R" inside a square, some late-2014 pieces show "R" without a shape - an early adoption of the post-2015 format.

U Horseshoe (HSS) Indicates a Special Order (SO) custom-made for a VIP client. Often features bi-color or tri-color leather combinations.
Shooting Star Indicates a bag created for an Hermes Craftsperson. These are personal gifts and technically not for resale, making them extremely rare in the market.
^ Caret Porosus Crocodile. The finest and most expensive exotic skin, harvested from the Indo-Pacific saltwater crocodile.
.. Two Dots Niloticus Crocodile. Harvested from the Nile River. The skin used for the famous "Himalaya" bag.
Square Alligator. Specifically Mississippiensis Alligator from the USA. Most commonly found in Matte finishes.
= Hyphen Varanus Niloticus Lizard. A small dash next to the Hermes logo indicates lizard skin.
