IWC Portuguese Chronograph SS Miami Vice Limited Edition 27/50 REF IW371404
A (very) limited edition of the watch was released by IWC, see image on the left. Only 50 pieces were made, so they are hard to find. The special edition, reference number 371404 included an engraved IWC caseback with Miami Vice logo and number. The current Portuguese range doesn't include a version with white (panda) subdials. The urbane and street smart Ricardo Tubbs, played in the film by Jamie Foxx, was suited with the IWC Portuguese Chrono-Automatic for the story's daytime scenes. With it's large sleek dial, black face and a silver sub dial, this watch proved to be the perfect fit in helping Miami Vice transition to it's new modern look and feel.

The tradition behind the Portuguese family of watches stretches all the way back to the precision nautical instruments used by seafarers to discover the world. A traditional line like this needs a chronograph with a scale calibrated to an accuracy of a quarter of a second. The elegant design and moderate height of the case have made the Portuguese Chronograph one of the most sought-after Portuguese models of them all. Everything is integrated harmoniously on the clearly organized dial: the recessed totalizers, the embossed Arabic numerals and the perfectly proportioned feuille hands for hours and minutes. The chronographs in cases with the warm appeal of 18-carat red gold exude a distinctive luxury.
The term "hardware" refers to the metallic parts of the bag, such as the buckle hardware, base studs, lock and keys and/or strap, which are plated with a colored finish (e.g. gold, silver, palladium). The terms refer to the tone or color of the hardware and not the actual material used. If hardware is composed of precious solid metals this will be referenced in the description.
