The story behind the Birkin
Originated in 1984 from a conversation between Jane Birkin and Hermès Executive Chairman Jean-Louis Dumas; its structural lineage traces to the Haut à Courroies. Familiar sizes are 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm, alongside miniature, shoulder and travel versions, in both Retourné and Sellier construction.

The construction is classic Birkin: a front flap over two straps that close on the turn-lock, a padlock and two keys in a leather clochette, and two rolled handles that stand high over the 25 body. Four palladium feet protect the base.
Togo's natural, unpressed grain holds the 25's shape without stiffness and keeps the small marks of daily carry from showing, which matters on a light color.

Collector's Insight:
Gris Meyer is one of the house's newer grays, and with palladium the bag stays entirely in cool tones. A store-fresh 2025 example with its full set is the specification at its most complete.
Resale Insight:
