Étain is a cool pewter gray that reads silvery in cool light and settles into a matte dove gray in shade. On Togo the color sits deep in the pebbled grain, the raised texture catching the pigment unevenly for a depth flatter leathers do not give. Palladium hardware keeps leather and metal in the same cool register, and at 25 cm the Birkin carries the neutral in a compact frame.
