The story behind the Bolide

Hermès dates the Bolide to 1923 and ties its rounded, zipped design to motor travel; it was the first Hermès bag closed by a zipper. Made in miniature, handbag and travel sizes.

The On Wheels version sets the mini on four working wheels in Feu orange, embossed HERMÈS PARIS, turning the small bag into a toy-like object.

The body is Craie Epsom, a chalky off-white, with brown piping tracing the arch, and palladium hardware keeps the pale palette cool.

Collector's Insight:
The On Wheels is one of the house's lighter-hearted pieces, a working miniature of the 1923 Bolide on wheels, made in a limited run of colorways.

Resale Insight:
Pale Epsom shows marks and color transfer readily, and the wheels take scuffs from any surface they touch, so buyers check both, along with the piping.
