The Kelly Pochette is the Kelly reduced to a clutch: a single flat handle, the tournante closure, and no more room than an evening needs. Marqueterie is the house's leather inlay work, where the motif is cut from separate skins and set flush into the body rather than painted or printed onto it. Each petal is an individual piece of leather fitted into a recess cut to receive it.

Box is what makes the technique read. Its semi-gloss surface holds a hard edge where two leathers meet, so the boundary between the white petals and the black ground stays crisp instead of blurring. A grained leather would soften every join. The trade-off is the usual one with Box: the surface records what happens to it, and inlay seams are the first place handling shows.

Gold hardware against the black ground picks up the yellow at the center of each marguerite.
