The Kelly En Désordre takes the most disciplined bag the house makes and pulls it out of alignment on purpose. It arrived on the Autumn-Winter 2022 runway and reads as a Kelly split down the middle and reassembled slightly wrong: two exterior flaps, each with its own sangle and touret, one opening into the main compartment and the other covering an angled exterior pocket built like a Kelly Pochette. The body is trapezoidal, measuring 20 centimetres across the top and 25 across the base. None of the asymmetry is accidental.

Étoupe is the grey-taupe that behaves as the house's most adaptable neutral, warm enough to sit beside brown and cool enough to sit beside grey, which is why it is among the most requested colours Hermès makes. Epsom is the right partner for a bag of off-axis panels: the grain is pressed rather than natural, so the leather holds a corner and an angle instead of relaxing into a curve, and every deliberate misalignment stays exactly where it was drawn. Warm metal pulls the taupe toward its brown end rather than its grey one.

The top handle is gone. In its place is a fixed shoulder strap, and the reference point is the vintage Mini Kelly 20, the original attached-strap Kelly, rather than anything in the current line.
