Hermès Kelly Doll Quelle Idole Picto Mauve Sylvestre Epsom Palladium Hardware
The Picto is the pixelated reissue of Jean-Louis Dumas's Year 2000 Kelly Doll, redrawn with an 8-bit aesthetic across the figurative face and body. Where the original used softly curved leather cuts, the Picto works in sharp geometric marquetry, each pixel a precisely cut and edge-painted piece of Epsom. The leather choice is functional rather than decorative: Epsom's rigidity holds the angular lines without softening at the junctions where four or five color blocks meet, which is the hardest part of the construction.
Mauve Sylvestre forms the body, a dusty pastel lilac sitting between Rose Sakura and Glycine on the house's pink spectrum. Nata provides the whites of the eyes, Chai handles the neutral brown of the pixelated arms and feet, and Lime punches through as the bright accent on the lower torso. A removable Nata backpack pouch clips to the rear, an addition unique to the Picto generation that the original Quelle Idole never carried, and a detachable shoulder strap makes the piece wearable rather than purely displayed.

Collector's Insight: The original Kelly Doll debuted as a limited millennium piece in 2000 and was not reissued for over two decades. The Picto arrived in 2022 with the pixelated redesign and has run in rotating colorways since, each in small quantities and retired without announcement. The marquetry construction is what limits output: every pixel is cut, edge-painted, and set by hand, and a single misaligned block ruins the panel. The Kelly Doll is collected as an objet rather than carried, and most examples never leave their boxes.
Resale Insight: Kelly Dolls trade on their own terms, disconnected from standard Kelly pricing logic, because the buyer is acquiring a runway object rather than a bag to use. Each colorway is produced in very limited numbers, so supply within a given palette is fixed the moment the run closes. Pristine condition with the full set and the detachable backpack intact is the expected standard in this category, since most pieces are acquired as collectibles and never carried.
