Chai anchors the body in warm tan, the grain holding flat so the marquetry reads clean against it. Mauve Sylvestre renders the splayed feet in soft pink. Terre Battue fills the pixelated mouth in saturated terracotta. Bleu Celeste is carried on the detachable backpack pouch, a component the original Quelle Idole never had. The warm ground pulls the whole composition toward neutral, where the vivid-bodied editions push their accents forward.

Introduced for Spring/Summer 2022, the Picto redraws Jean-Louis Dumas's 2000 Kelly Doll in 8-bit geometry, trading the curved leather cuts of the original for sharp marquetry blocks. Every pixel is cut, edge-painted and set by hand, and the junctions where four or five blocks meet are the hardest part of the construction. A removable shoulder strap makes the piece wearable rather than purely displayed.

Collector's Insight:
The 2022 stamp places this in the Picto's launch year, before the line expanded into the rotating colorways that followed. Kelly Doll production has been intermittent across the maison's calendar since the original 2000 release: withdrawn from regular production in 2005, revived only for limited boutique-opening runs between 2008 and 2010, then reimagined as the Picto. Each generation is collected as a discrete object rather than as part of the standard Kelly catalog.

Resale Insight:
Kelly Dolls trade on their own terms, disconnected from standard Kelly pricing, because the buyer is acquiring a runway object rather than a bag to use. Each colorway runs in small quantities and is retired without announcement, so supply within a palette is fixed the moment the run closes.
