The story behind the Kelly Danse
Designed by Jean Paul Gaultier and introduced in 2008, discontinued in 2013 and reintroduced in 2019 as the Kelly Danse II. An adjustable strap lets it be carried as a clutch, on the shoulder, crossbody, at the waist or as a backpack.
Kelly Danse II in Noir Volupto with Gold hardware. Volupto is a newer addition to the Hermès leather library, a smooth calfskin with a soft, supple hand. The Kelly Danse II is the 2024 reissue of Jean Paul Gaultier's original transformable design, with updated proportions. Worn as a crossbody, shoulder, backpack, belt bag, hand carry, or clutch by adjusting the single long strap. Kelly turn-lock closure on the front flap. Gold hardware.
Collector's Insight:
Volupto is a recent leather introduction appearing on select Hermès silhouettes including the Kelly Danse II and limited-edition Birkins (Rock). Its availability is still limited as Hermès rolls the leather across production. The Kelly Danse II in a new leather type adds a layer of scarcity beyond the standard Evercolor and Swift versions.
