The story behind the Kelly
Created in the 1930s by Robert Dumas as a women's bag with straps: a trapezoid with two triangular gussets, a cutout flap, a handle and two side straps. It took the Kelly name in 1956, when Grace Kelly made it famous. Sellier construction keeps the seams on the outside for a more defined outline; Retourné construction turns them inside for softer edges. The leather does not decide the construction: Box calf Kellys are recorded in both.

Electrum hardware mixes gold and palladium components on the same bag: here the turn-lock and rivets are gold, while the plate, sangles, pontet, four feet, clochette, V hook and strap clasps are palladium, so the fittings read two-toned against the green.
Collector's Insight:
Electrum is one of the less common Hermès hardware finishes, and its mix of warm and cool metal pairs easily with a mid-tone green.
Resale Insight:
Epsom resists scratches, so buyers check the corners and flap edge, where Sellier construction takes knocks, and the two-tone hardware for plating wear.
