The story behind the Birkin
Originated in 1984 from a conversation between Jane Birkin and Hermès Executive Chairman Jean-Louis Dumas; its structural lineage traces to the Haut à Courroies. Familiar sizes are 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm, alongside miniature, shoulder and travel versions, in both Retourné and Sellier construction.
Discover Hermès Birkin BagsThree materials in one composition: Togo's pebbled grain on the body, Barenia's smooth saddle leather with contrast stitching, and woven Crin adding textile depth at center. Bleu Indigo reads as black in low light and reveals its ink-blue saturation in direct sun. Palladium hardware throughout with protective plastic intact.
Q stamp, 2013 production. Pristine condition with full set.
Collector's Insight:
The Club Birkin pairs Barenia and Crin with a standard leather body. Barenia is one of the few Hermès leathers that develops a visible patina, and its inclusion here alongside woven Crin creates material contrast that standard production Birkins do not offer. The tri-material construction limits production volume relative to single-leather Birkins.
Resale Insight:
Club Birkins from the early 2010s production window trade above equivalent single-leather Birkins. Pristine condition with hardware plastics intact twelve years after manufacture is uncommon for this reference.
