Box calf has been progressively withdrawn from broad Hermès production as the house shifted capacity toward scratch-resistant grained leathers, and it reaches the small Kelly formats least often of all. The polished surface also forgives nothing: a single panel with a flaw cannot be finished out, so the hides that qualify for a Mini in Box are a narrow selection of a narrow allocation. A current-year example is the leather at its starting point, before any patina has begun.

Resale Insight:
The Mini Kelly 20 outruns supply in nearly every specification, and Box narrows it further because the leather is harder to source on a current small Kelly than any grained option. Condition carries disproportionate weight here: Box records handling at the corners and along the sangles before anywhere else, and it cannot be refinished back, so pristine examples hold a share of demand well above their share of production.
