Hermès Jige Elan 29 Multicolor Doblis
Hermès Jige Elan 29 Multicolor Doblis
Jige Elan 29 in seven-color Doblis colorblock with Swift trim. The panel colors: Rose Azalée, Capucine, Ocre, Soufre, Malachite, Bordeaux, and Bleu Zéphyr. Doblis is Hermès' proprietary calfskin suede with a dense, fine nap and velvety hand. The Swift trim provides structural contrast at the edges and forms the signature pull-through H-tab closure. No metal hardware.
The colorblock arrangement places warm tones (Rose Azalée through Soufre) against cool and dark tones (Malachite through Bleu Zéphyr), with each Doblis panel cut and assembled as a separate piece. The material contrast between matte suede body and smooth Swift trim gives the clutch visual depth that a single-leather execution would not achieve. Multicolor Doblis Jiges were produced as seasonal releases and do not repeat across production years.

Collector's Insight:
The Jige dates to 1975 and is one of the few Hermès designs with no metal hardware, relying instead on a leather H-tab pulled through a slot in the body panel. Multicolor Doblis editions are seasonal releases that fall outside the standard Jige Elan range, requiring precise skin selection across seven distinct colorways to maintain consistent nap direction across panels. The construction complexity of seven-panel Doblis colorblock places these editions among the rarest Jige executions Hermès has produced.
Resale Insight:
Seasonal Jige Elans in unusual materials trade on scarcity rather than the brand-recognition premium that drives Birkin and Kelly pricing. Doblis suede requires more careful handling than smooth leather, which narrows the buyer pool but deepens collector appeal among those who value material range and seasonal exclusivity. Multicolor Doblis editions of this construction complexity have demonstrated steady demand in the secondary market, with Pristine examples performing strongest given the leather's vulnerability to light contamination across the lifecycle.
