The story behind the Birkin
Originated in 1984 from a conversation between Jane Birkin and Hermès Executive Chairman Jean-Louis Dumas; its structural lineage traces to the Haut à Courroies. Familiar sizes are 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm, alongside miniature, shoulder and travel versions, in both Retourné and Sellier construction.

Unlined and topped off with Rouge de Cour leather and Palladium hardware, this exceptionally lightweight bag pushes the limits of what we thought Hermès could accomplish with a Birkin.
The 35cm is the original size designed for Jane Birkin in 1984, balanced silhouette valued for its capacity as a functional day bag. Interior is lined in matching Chevre leather with one zip pocket and one open pocket. Signature turn-lock closure, front flap, and sangles complete the hardware configuration.
Collector's Insight:
The Birkin 35 represents the core of the Hermès handbag program. Production quantities are not disclosed by the house, and retail acquisition requires an established purchase history with a Hermès boutique.
