The story behind the Birkin

Originated in 1984 from a conversation between Jane Birkin and Hermès Executive Chairman Jean-Louis Dumas; its structural lineage traces to the Haut à Courroies. Familiar sizes are 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm, alongside miniature, shoulder and travel versions, in both Retourné and Sellier construction.

Gold has been part of the Hermès palette since the saddlery era: a warm camel-tan, neutral enough to carry every day across seasons, outlined here in white contrast stitching.

Togo's soft, pebbled grain holds its structure while staying supple and resists scratches, and palladium hardware gives a cool contrast against the warm leather.

Collector's Insight:
Gold Togo with palladium is one of the permanent Birkin specifications, the warm neutral paired with the cooler of the two classic hardware finishes.

Resale Insight:
On Gold Togo, buyers look at the white stitching and the pale edge paint for soiling first, then at the corners and handles.
