The story behind the Birkin
Originated in 1984 from a conversation between Jane Birkin and Hermès Executive Chairman Jean-Louis Dumas; its structural lineage traces to the Haut à Courroies. Familiar sizes are 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm, alongside miniature, shoulder and travel versions, in both Retourné and Sellier construction.
Discover Hermès Birkin BagsGris Perle is a pale, cool gray with a soft pearlescent cast, cooler than Étoupe and lighter than Étain. On Togo the pebbled grain catches light unevenly, giving the pale color subtle depth across the surface.
Gold hardware adds warmth against the cool gray, and at 25 cm the Birkin carries the neutral in a compact frame.

Gris Perle returns in cycles rather than staying in continuous production, and gold hardware gives the cool neutral a warmer finish than the more common palladium pairing.
