The story behind the Birkin
Originated in 1984 from a conversation between Jane Birkin and Hermès Executive Chairman Jean-Louis Dumas; its structural lineage traces to the Haut à Courroies. Familiar sizes are 25, 30, 35 and 40 cm, alongside miniature, shoulder and travel versions, in both Retourné and Sellier construction.
Discover Hermès Birkin BagsThe brown takes the points of contact and outlines the silhouette, so the blue reads as one clean field. The clochette is cut in Bleu Aztec, and inside, the bag is lined in Havane chèvre.
The construction is the Birkin's own. The Havane sangles cross the flap to the palladium turn-lock, the padlock and clochette share one handle, and both rolled handles are set into pointed Havane tabs. Underneath, four palladium feet sit in two leather strips, and the piping traces the base and runs up each gusset.
Chèvre Mysore suits a saturated color: the goatskin's tight grain takes the pigment deeply and keeps the bag light in the hand. Its natural grain carries a subtle sheen, and palladium hardware keeps the front cool against the turquoise.

Collector's Insight:
The horseshoe stamp marks a bag made to a client's specification rather than for boutique stock, so the pairing here was chosen, not issued.
Resale Insight:
Special Order Birkins are judged on the combination first, since a buyer who wants this pairing is looking for this bag. On a piece from 2011 they also check the corners, the handles and the Havane piping for wear.
