Hermès Birkin 30 Rouge H Matte Porosus Crocodile 18K White Gold and Diamond Hardware

Rouge H is the oxblood the house carried long before its brighter reds arrived, a deep brick tone that reads closer to lacquered wood than to a saturated red. On Porosus it gains a dimension no calfskin reaches: the skin Hermès reserves for its highest exotic tier, identified by fine symmetrical scales each carrying a single visible pore. Buffed matte with wool felt rather than agate-polished to a shine, the surface holds the color deep and velvety, and the scale relief does the work that gloss would otherwise do.

The hardware is where this piece leaves standard production entirely. The usual palladium or gold fittings are replaced in 18K white gold and set with full-cut round pavé diamonds across the plaques, the touret, the pontets, the lock and the keys. Jewelry-set hardware of this kind is commissioned rather than allocated: it does not appear in the seasonal offer, and the pieces that carry it are counted in the low dozens across a production year.

The interior is lined in Rouge H Chèvre with one slip pocket and one zip pocket. A K in a square places production at 2007, within the era when Hermès was building its diamond-set exotics in their smallest numbers.

Condition: 2 – Excellent

Material: Matte Porosus Crocodile (Crocodylus porosus)
Hardware: 18K White Gold with pavé-set diamonds

Slight scratching to unprotected hardware, minor darkening to the top handles, minimal rubbing at the base corners, several slight scuffs to the flap, front and rear, and minor creasing at the corners. Interior shows minor rubbing at the sides, faint scuffs and moderate pressmarks to the base. CITES documentation applies; export and import permits are the responsibility of the buyer and this piece cannot ship internationally without them.

Collector's Insight: Diamond-set Hermès exotics sit in a category the house does not publish figures for, and Rouge H is an unusual ground for it. The commissioned pieces that carry white gold and pavé work overwhelmingly appear in Himalaya, Noir and the blues, where the stones read as contrast; on an oxblood Porosus the diamonds sit against a warm dark field instead, which is why this configuration surfaces far less often than its price tier would suggest.

Resale Insight: Jewelry-hardware exotics trade on scarcity of the commission rather than on color demand, and they move through a small pool of collectors who already hold the standard exotics. The disclosed wear places this below an untouched example and it prices accordingly, but the hardware cannot be reproduced through any current allocation route, which is what holds the floor under a piece of this age.
