Among Hermès exotic handbags, Lizard Birkins and Kellys are the rarest, produced in extremely limited quantities. Even within this group, Ombre Lizard stands apart: striking natural gray rings against a cream backdrop that gradually darkens toward the sides, a look reminiscent of the celebrated Himalaya crocodile pieces. Each bag's pattern is entirely unique, with the amount and placement of the rings varying by individual hide.
This 25cm Ombre Lizard Kelly from 2010 remains immaculate, showing no yellowing thanks to careful storage and unused condition. Palladium hardware matches the cool register of the natural banding, and this example displays a generous array of dark rings.

Collector's Insight: Ombré is not a dye treatment: the gradient is the natural banding of the Salvator lizard preserved through minimal finishing, and no two skins band identically. Resale Insight: Ombré Lizard examples have grown scarce on the secondary market, and demand concentrates on unused examples with no yellowing, the condition failure that removes most vintage lizard from contention.
