Hermès Birkin 35 Arlequin Clémence Palladium Hardware
Hermès Birkin 35 Arlequin Clémence Palladium Hardware
The Arlequin is the six-color patchwork Birkin, a limited-edition construction in which separate panels of Taurillon Clémence are joined into one asymmetric bag. This example carries Orange, Sanguine, Gold, Bleu Lin, Bleu Hydra, and Étain across the body, flap, sides, and handles, the colors arranged so the front, back, and profile each present a different combination. The seams between panels are visible by design, the patchwork worn as the point rather than concealed.
Clémence is the matte, natural-grain bull calfskin the Arlequin was built in, soft to the hand and prone to a relaxed slouch as it ages. Because each panel is dyed separately, the colors mature at their own pace and the paler leathers register handling before the darker ones, a characteristic of the patchwork rather than a defect. Palladium hardware stays neutral against the six colors, and the interior is lined in Chèvre.

Collector's Insight:
The Arlequin ran as a single limited edition with no reissue, allocated as a special piece outside standard boutique distribution, its palette pulled from permanent and semi-permanent colors rather than seasonal ones. The patchwork divides opinion by design, which holds demand to a narrower but steady pool of limited-edition collectors. This Orange-led configuration is one of several documented six-color combinations, the warmer counterpart to the cooler violet-and-grey versions.
Resale Insight:
Arlequin Birkins trade in the limited-edition tier on edition scarcity rather than direct comparables. This is a 2013 example in Very Good condition with the leather softening expected of Clémence at this age, offered without box or clochette, which positions it as the accessible entry point into the Arlequin rather than the collector-grade full set. For a buyer who wants the patchwork itself over completeness of packaging, that is the trade.
