Jean-Paul Gaultier's era at Hermès was a period of unparalleled creative exploration. One of the eminent French designer's most lauded works is the Shadow Birkin, a special edition initially created in 2009 and 2010. This unique iteration of the renowned Birkin design was embossed onto the supple Swift leather, transforming it into an open-top tote bag. The dimensions of this reimagined bag mirror the original's proportions perfectly, creating a subtle homage to the Birkin.
The past few years saw Hermès re-introduce a highly exclusive selection of these 25cm Shadow Birkin's. This particular model, fashioned from Gold Swift leather, is in immaculate, store-fresh condition. A discreetly embossed clochette graces the rear of the bag, serving as an elegant finishing touch. Additionally, the bag features sangles with snap ends that neatly slide inside the front, affording a modicum of added security.
These bags occupy a unique position within Hermès' collections. They are the only 'Birkins' to boast a completely distinct structure when compared to other Birkin variations, marking them as truly exceptional pieces.
